Though we are slowly embracing the new normal and cognitively putting our best foot forward, sometimes we feel trapped by our own emotions and feelings. We may often find ourselves battling with unwanted attitudes or feeling overwhelmed with the current situation.

For some, this may be the fear of the unknown, or feeling trapped or worrying about our financial stability or simply feeling stressed about our health. But most of all, as we try to adjust, accept, and reinvent our lives with the lockdowns and the social distancing, what we face today in differing degrees is Loneliness.

Loneliness could possibly be a symptom of toxic emotions that we carry from unresolved problems from the past — for example, traumas from our childhood — feelings of being left alone, ignored, abandoned, cast off, unnoticed, disregarded, etc.

Traumatic incidents that occurred in our childhood, stay embedded and suppressed in our subconscious and resurface in our adult life when triggered by the environment. COVID19, with its immense impact on every aspect of our lives, surely has triggered and awakened in many of us those buried wounds. Though we are connected virtually more than ever, many of us will admit to having been swept away by a deep sense of loneliness and isolation.

What we don’t repair, repeats — especially when faced with a strong trigger in our immediate environment.

What is an Inner Child?

An Inner Child is the part of our personality that still reacts and feels like a child.

It is created when a need is not met — a void is created and a coping mechanism takes over. The more the coping mechanism is repeated, a pattern is created and the more powerful the Inner Child becomes.

The Inner Child is real — not literally, not physically but figuratively and metaphorically. It is a psychological or phenomenological reality.

How do we heal our Inner Child?

Inner Child Therapy is the process of contacting, understanding, embracing, and healing your Inner Child. It is a vital component of inner work because it reconnects us with a wounded element of ourselves — the child within. When we reconnect with this fragmented part, we can begin to discover the root of many of our fears, phobias, insecurities, and sabotaging life patterns including the perceived gloom of loneliness.

Inner Child work brings to our attention and awareness the parts of us that have been repressed, forgotten, or lost and eventually provides us with tools to lovingly accept these parts and bring them together.

What are the benefits of Inner Child Healing?

Inner Child Therapy helps us discover how our mind stores various types of incidents from different ages and times of our lives, identify those traumatic incidents and then heal and integrate them to create a healthy and whole adult.

The end goal is to make ourselves complete, loved, and seen — and when we are ‘complete’ we are no longer ‘lonely’. The outcome is liberating!

Healing your Inner Child is the journey from being a pseudo adult defined just by age to an authentic adult who is in charge of his/ her life.

Are you ready to heal your Inner Child and reclaim your lost power and happiness?
